SummarySaradha scam: Says will write to PM for CBI probe.

Suspended Trinamool Congress MP Kunal Ghosh, who was summoned by the police for the eleventh time on Friday, has dragged West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s name into the Saradha scam.

Talking about a meeting between chit fund group chief Sudipta Sen and Mamata, Ghosh said, “Sudipta Sen met Mamatadi and told her he would like to see her as Prime Minister and she told him that the media under Saradha should project her and the developmental work the government had undertaken. Sen said his media group would do everything to see to it that she becomes prime minister."

Ghosh, who broke down after coming out of the at Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate office, added that he could be arrested tomorrow, but he would write a letter to PM Manmohan Singh requesting him to initiate a CBI probe into the scam. A case on whether a CBI probe should be ordered is already on in the Supreme Court on a petition.

Ghosh, a Rajya Sabha member who was suspended from the TMC for anti-party activities, added, “Enough is enough. Let Mamatadi send her police and arrest me. Mukul Roy (party general secretary), who controls Bidhannagar Commissioner of Police Rajiv Kumar, should get me arrested. On Saradha media, Sudipta Sen spent Rs 200 crore, but what happened to the remaining Rs 2,000 crore? The people who usurped them are moving about freely. What is going on in the name of investigation is an eyewash. No probe is going on to unearth the money.”

He later told The Indian Express “I cannot take this trauma any longer. Yesterday I was asked by the police where the Saradha money went, who benefited. They told me if I cannot tell them where the remaining money has gone, they would arrest me. The police are not trying to find people who benefited from Sen. Bidhannagar police dances to the tune of Mukul Roy. I tell Mukulda, you order my arrest. Why don’t you have a CBI probe? Why are you afraid of it?’"

Another rebel MP, Somen Mitra, also said Mamata should order a CBI probe.
