New Delhi: of Vienna, also assisted in the analytical study of the samples from Dhala area.

According to Professor Reimold, the Dhala discovery is of great significance with regard to widening the field of occurrence of impact structures on Earth into Asia. It draws attention to this fundamental process in the solar system— impact cratering—and one that has in the past fundamentally “impacted” on the evolution of this planet (especially in its earliest phase when a barrage of projectiles bombarded the early Earth) and life on it in the Asian realm.

» Dhala impact structure

This dhala structure is not a discovery as claimed in this paper. It is a reinerterpretation of the data in the light of authors study. The structure was first described by Jain et.al. 2001 Geol.Sur.India. Spl.Pub.64.p289.Further GSI has also carried out drilling in this structure then identified as Mohar Cauldron.If present authors have identified definite shock metomorphic features it is well and good ,However we have failed to observe such features.
