General Motors India targetting to sell 48,000 units of Chevrolet Sail this year

General Motors India is targetting to sell 48,000 units of the Chevrolet Sail per annum in the country and would be concentrating on the domestic market, a top official today said.

In Kerala, GM was looking at sales of 300 units of the premium sedan per month, Vice President, P Balendran, said.

The market was 'absolutely sluggish' as interest rates continues to be high, he said adding until the interest rates comes down further, market will not improve.

Balendran said there were no plans for exporting the Chevrolet Sail from India as GM was keen to concentrate on the domestic market. The Sail model was being exported to at least 16 countries from China, he said.

The new car is available in 7 exterior colours and is available in petrol and diesel versions. While the price of petrol version (ex showroom kochi) ranges from rs 5.61 lakh to rs 7.21 lakh, the diesel version is priced between rs 7.07 lakh to rs 8.43 lakh.

GM presently 12 authorised service centres in the state and plans are to take it to 15 this year.

Pointing that they were very upbeat about the Kerala market, he said last year totally 8500 units of various models of chevrolet were sold in the state and this year the company was eyeing to sales of 13,500 units.

The 'Enjoy' will be lanuched in both diesel and petrol versions in two months times, he said.
