New Delhi: Mukesh Ambani Group firm RIL and Anil Ambani's RNRL joined hands to oppose the plea of a shareholder in both the companies to be made party in their ongoing dispute in the Supreme Court over the gas price to be supplied from the KG basin.

"For a change we are on the same side," RIL and RNRL's counsel Harish Salve and Mukul Rohatgi, who have been attacking each other over the dispute, told a Bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan which refused the plea of the shareholder to be impleaded as the party in the high-voltage legal battle, the hearing of which will resume tomorrow for the seventh day.

Vishweshwar Madhavrao Raste, claiming himself to be the shareholder of RIL and RNRL, had also sought tabling of the family MoU of 2005.

"We are not allowing anybody to intervene. In this way this court will have to hear three million shareholders," the Bench, also comprising Justices V S Sirpurkar and P Sathasiva, said.

The apex court said it will not issue notice and simply post the application along with the main matters.

It is hearing the dispute between RIL and RNRL relating to pricing of gas from KG basin for which the two brothers Mukesh Ambani and Anil Ambani are engaged in a bitter fight.

RNRL is seeking gas from his brother's group RIL at rates 44 per cent lower than Government-approved price.

RIL says it cannot honour the commitment made in the 2005 family agreement due to Government's pricing and gas policies.

How will the corruption and criminal charges against Reliance Companies be investigated at all. They have full support of the government including FM and PM.In short, the ministers say 'plunder whatever way you want but gives us rosy growth rates. Most ministers take huge share of the profits backdoor. Though, PM may be spotlessly clean he is equally responsible for whatever corporate mafia do.

Congress promoted corruption and poverty since independence for the political gain of Nehru's dynasty. There are thousands of martyr's who laid their for achieving independence, nobody's name is well known in India except Nehru or his family. Nehru family spends billions of rupees of govt of india's money for their advt and reputation as if they have achieved or served this nation a lot. Nehru family has thrown this country into further poverty and illeteracy, corruption, crime. After few years we may forget the name of Sardar Vallabhai Patel, Subhash Chandra Bose or even Gandhi. Since we are naming every project only Indira or Rajiv Gandhi airport, Rajiv, Nehru, Indira Housing scheme, rozgar yojana. Nehru family has done great things to build deposits in Swiss banks.

Abhijit, nice post, but if Reliance goes away don't you think another foriegn corporation would readily take its place. Our country is already suffering a huge Export-Import deficit, and it's scary to even think of losing another Indian corporation, so soon after Satyam went bust. As we opened our markets to the developed countries, our only way of survival is supporting the local businesses and our indigenous corporations.

Both Reliance companies behave like parental property of Ambanis. They care only for themselves and do not operate as a professional organization. Corporate governance in India is nothing but farce. India will be better off if there is no Reliance. All the corruption charges against Reliance need to be impartially investigated. But we know it is not possible in a country like India.
