Samsung said it achieved sales growth of over 35 per cent in Southwest Asia in 2012. “Consumers are looking for technology to enrich and empower their lives and not something that complicates it. Our goal is to give them that technology,” BD Park, President and CEO of Samsung (Southwest Asia).
Here are some of the new products announced at the event.
Televisions
Building on its range of smart television sets, Samsung launched F8000, an LED TV available in sizes of up to 65 inches. It is the first Samsung TV to ship with a quad-core processor, which aids in multi-tasking (switching between online services and apps). The company announced two new accessories with the television.
One of these is the Smart Touch Control, a universal remote with a touchpad. Users can “write” the channel number on the touchpad to change channels. It will work with TVs from other manufacturers too, Samsung said. The second accessory is the evolution kit, which is an upgrade kit for Samsung's 2012 smart TVs. Users just need to place it on the back panel to upgrade their TV to the performance levels of this year's products.
Another TV launched at the event is the 85-inch ultra high-definition TV called 85S9. It will be available in May 2013. The TV can handle ultra high-definition 4K content. It has an upscaling technology that upgrades
