New Delhi: Natural gas transmission firm GAIL India has stopped the sale of 47 million cubic metres a day as a strike by officials of state-run oil firms has hit supplies, a company spokesman said on Wednesday.
The spokesman said supplies had stopped at Hazira in western India, from where natural gas is transported by a 2,800 km pipeline to northern India.
"There is no gas at Hazira," the spokesman said.
Earlier, Oil Sector Officers Association President Amit Kumar said Oil and Natural Gas Corp's gas processing plant at Hazira was being shut down.
Officials at state-run oil firms began an indefinite strike on Wednesday, demanding higher wages.
