New Delhi: Kishore Biyani-promoted Future Group is aiming to clock sales of around Rs 900 crore from its shopping fair, 'The Great Indian Shopping Festival', which has been extended by a week.
The group, which has already clocked Rs 700-crore sales since the launch of its marketing initiative on December 13, is expecting another Rs 200 crore to be added within this week on the back of its new marketing campaign.
"At an average we secure sales of around Rs 500 crore every month. But because of the slowdown, sales in November was not so good. It may be only about 10-12 per cent. However, this shopping festival has helped in picking up sales and we have almost 45 per cent growth over previous month," Sandip Tarkas Future Group President (customer strategies) said.
The shopping festival is conducted across all 1000-odd stores, including small and hyper market formats, in the country.
"During the festival footfall in our stores has also increased by over 18 per cent. We have already had sales of around Rs 700 crore. So, in another week's time we expect that we will be able to add another Rs 200 crore," he said.
While food and apparel categories, which is the largest section of Future Group, has contributed around 55 per cent of the sales, Tarkas said the electronic products have shown over 100 per cent growth.
"Sales for products like the electronic goods, which are badly hit by the slowdown, had gone down a bit for sometime.
But it has picked up during this festival. It has shown more than 100 per cent growth," he said.
