Former Kendriya Vidyalaya principal gets three years in jail for taking bribe
Special CBI Judge Swarana Kanta Sharma sentenced R K Dass, retired principal of the Kendriya Vidyalaya, Dwarka, and former school peon Shiv Lakhan Mahato to jail and imposed a fine on the two for the offences under Section 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC and under various provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
“God and teachers have been kept on a pedestal where teacher must be worshipped even before God as it is only through the teacher that we find the right path in life. But if the torch bearers of the next generation forget their path, what will happen to this country, which is being eaten systematically by monster of corruption?” the judge said.
Dass and Mahato were arrested by CBI after Vipin Kumar Gupta, a parent who had sought admission for his daughter in the school, filed a complaint that Dass had called him on his cellphone on May 1, 2009, and demanded Rs 50,000 for admitting his child. He told the CBI that Dass had agreed to an amount of 30,000 after negotiation. The agency arrested Dass and Mahato on May 4, after Mahato accepted Rs 10,000 as a first instalment on behalf
