The complex has been constructed at a cost of about Rs 11 crore.
Minister of State for Home Nasir Aslam Wani, local MLA Irfan Ahmed Shah, senior police officers and civil administration officials were also present at the function.
Directorate of Forensic Science Services of Union Ministry of Home Affairs has sanctioned Rs 83 lakh for creation of two Central forensic mobile units, one each in Srinagar and Jammu, an official spokesperson said.
There is also a proposal for creation of new divisions of brain mapping, computer cyber crime, DNA profiling and voice identification to make these laboratories modern and more proactive.
The forensic laboratory, that moved to the new complex in Bemina today, has cleared 2,250 criminal cases out of the 3,000 referred to it, with the success in narcotics-related cases being 100 per cent, the official said.
