Chopra sisters - Priyanka and Parineeti battle it out on the big screen for the first time as their respective films Zanjeer and Shuddh Desi Romance release today.
While Priyanka Chopra's Zanjeer promises to be an action-packed saga, Shuddh Desi Romance is said to be a fun romantic film with a hint of realism.
Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, Zanjeer marks the debut of Telugu superstar Ram Charan Teja. The film is a remake of the 1973 Amitabh Bachchan starrer, which earned him the title of the 'angry young man'.
Ram Charan had confessed that he was apprehensive to step into Big B's shoes, however, his father, actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi, convinced him to do the role.
The film has five item songs with Priyanka Chopra and other actresses, Mahie Gill, London-based model Jasmine May and television actress Kavita Kaushik.
Sanjay Dutt who is currently serving a jail sentence at Yerwada jail in Pune, will reprise late actor Pran's role as Sher Khan in the film.
The film will also release in Telugu under the title Thoofan.
On the other hand Maneesh Sharma's Shuddh Desi Romance features a refreshing cast of Parineeti Chopra, Sushant Singh Rajput of Kai Po Che fame and newcomer Vaani Kapoor.
The film, written by Chak De India! screenwriter Jaideep Sahni, tells the tale of three young people trying to find the meaning of love, attraction and commitment.
Set in Jaipur, the film features Sushant Singh Rajut, who will be playing the role of Raghu, a tourist guide looking for love.
Parineeti will essay the role of his lover, Gayatri. And Tara on the other hand played by newcomer Vaani Kapoor, will be seen playing a simple focused girl who is in the mood to experiment.
"I am not very sorted like Tara. She is much focused and knows what she wants. She is straight forward and a go getter and has aspirations,” says model-turned actress Vaani.
The makers promise the film to be the first of its kind in Indian cinema.
"It will definitely surprise you,” says Parineeti.
She says the film, which is a fresh take on live-in relationships is a gutsy film and is very relatable to couples these days.
