Fiat banks on Tata for vehicle finance
“This would enable Fiat India to have its own set up across the country,” said Enrico Atanasio, managing director of the Fiat Group Automobiles India Private Limited. It had also started appointing dealers across the country.
"We see by March end our distribution tie-up with Tatas will come to an end as part of the agreement. However, Tatas have agreed to provide services support to our existing customers, wherever we could not reach them," he said.
Atanasio also said Fiat India is working with Tata to float financial services to fund its products in India. “We have identified two Tata group companies — Tata Finance & Tata Capital — and we will select one of them (probably Tata Capital) to float financial services. The modalities are being worked out. Options are open to infuse some capital or enabling Tatas to fund our products.”
Speaking to reporters at the launch of a dealership in Chennai, Atanasio said: “We have drawn a clear strategy for India and accordingly, we have started appointing dealers across the country. Of the 16 dealers that we have as of now, nine are from the existing Tata tie-up who have moved to set up a dedicated Fiat dealerships and seven are new Fiat dealers. We will have at least 70 by March
