After the Chandigarh Administration released 10 per cent Dearness Allowance (DA) for UT employees following demands of the UT Subordinate Services Federation, the federation put forth long-pending demands before K K Sharma, Adviser to Administrator, on Thursday.
It demanded appointment of sweepers on a regular basis in the municipal corporation (MC) and regularisation of 134 sweepers already working in the MC, besides immediate purchase of new mini buses for Chandigarh Transport Unit (CTU) that would be benefit the general public and reduce expenditure for the state exchequer. Also, demands asking for an immediate issue of notifications of pension orders to Chandigarh Housing Board employees and regularisation of daily wages of people working in different departments of the UT Administration for the last 25-30 years on Punjab pattern were included.
Dowry death: 2 sent in one-day remand
Mohali: Police have arrested two people for a dowry-related death in Kurali. Puran Chand and his mother Raj Dulari were produced in a local court on Thursday and sent to one-day police custody. They were booked after Chand's wife Sapna was found dead on Wednesday.
