New Delhi, Sept 1: : that Indian component makers need to spend more on R&D and be prepared to reduce costs every year by productivity improvements.u That would involve engineering investment and tackling the problem of product liability insurance - something that most Indian companies and insurance companies are scared of and shy away from.

Experts point out that the cost differential enjoyed by India, ranges from 10 per cent to 35 per cent depending on value addition, engineering complexities and level of assembly. Besides the wage advantage, the cost advantages emerge from cost of producton platform, tooling cost, designing cost and production cost, the expert said....
