SummaryMGNREGA stands for Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act.

MGNREGA stands for Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. It is a scheme started by the Indian Government for providing employment to the people of rural India. It came into existence on 25th August, 2005.

Under this scheme, a legal guarantee for one hundred days of employment in every financial year is given to the adult members of any rural household, who is willing to do public work-related unskilled manual work at the statutory minimum wage of Rs120 day. If they fail to do so the government has to pay the salary at their homes.

It aims to increase the purchasing power of the rural people, and help them in fulfilling their basic necessities of day-to-day life like food, clothing etc.

Food Security aims to provide the basic nutritional diet to the people for a good health. It aims to increase the production of farming of various agricultural goods like wheat, rice at a very minimal cost.

Under Food Security scheme, government provides the basic foods likes sugar, oil etc to the weaker section of the society which helps them to grow without being starved due to lack of food. The food is distributed through the various PDS (Public Distribution System).

Right to Education is an entailment program in which everyone has the right to get the free, compulsory and primary education. For this government is running many programs one of which is sarva shiksha abhiyan.

These enlightenment programs are very necessary and are a good steps taken by the government of India for a step closer towards the development of India. But then due to the corruption in different wings of these enlightenment programs, the main aim is not being achieved. Strict laws and rules should be made and immediate action should be taken if there is some problem with these enlightenment programs and these programs should be carried on with full fledged.
