Ranchi: Fans from Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni's hometown of Ranchi plan to build a temple in his name.

"Cricket is religion in our country and Dhoni is god of cricket," his fan club president Jitendra Singh said.

"We'll construct a huge temple of Dhoni in Ranchi and have a priest who will pray to him every day."

The fan club plans to raise funds through donations and install a 20-foot (six metres) fibre glass statue of Dhoni.

hii dhoni.. please you planting the trees in place of TEMPLE. at this time we really need the trees. i know your thinking is great. but, we have to save our world from globle warming and pollution. if u build the temple than u can but u have to plant a lot of trees around temple... i hope u can understand what i want to say. DHONI YOU ARE GREAT AND MY IDOL TOO.

These people although Indian like me are basically Mad Indians,Loser Indians and stupid Indians.One of the most backward states of India in dire need of schools,colleges,hospitals,gets no mention,instead they want to build a temple and appoint a priest who will pray to him,not pray for him.Can't these very people collect money and do something useful for the country,state city and it's people instead?

Treat cricketers as just human beings and not as God. If want to construct a temple build one for the soldiers who die for the safety of their countrymen and to protect their nation. If you have spare cash use it for a good cause that will be benefit our country and our children in future. It's high time we Indians learn from our past mistakes. Speak with Dhoni he will definitely be of the same opinion.

This is the kind of idiocy that makes people wonder about Indians. Dhoni should publicly let these idiots know that he would like them not to do it. It will be a good test of how down to earth he really is, or whether he is going to let this play to his ego. The plan is ridiculous and unless public figures like Dhoni ridicule such ideas, things will never change. A temple for Jayalalitha, Amitabh, Dhoni.........are people really so jobless? Can't they instead spend some time helping their community or something?
