The families of the three persons, including an eight-year-old girl, who died following the collapse of a wall of an ISKCON property adjoining their slum in Vasanthapura will be provided a compensation of Rs 6 lakh by ISKCON Bangalore and the Bruhath Bangalore Mahanagara Palike, according to an official announcement.
Five people were injured and many houses damaged when a weak 10-year-old wall of an ISKCON property fell in the Vasanthapur slum on Monday afternoon due to heavy rain.
Minister incharge of the city Ramalinga Reddy said ISKCON had agreed to pay Rs 5 lakh to the family members of the victims and the BBMP will pay Rs 1 lakh. He also said the ISKCON management had assured that it will pay for treatment of the injured persons and also adopt children of the victims. The BBMP and Slum Board will construct houses for families of the victims, Reddy said. Over eight houses were damaged in the incident.
Meanwhile, city police commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar said a case of negligence had been registered against the contractors, management and others.
The three persons who died following the collapse of the wall were Pothalappa (70), Channagiriyappa (45) and Sheya (8).
