Women's organisations and families of 15 women who died after being administered allegedly infected intravenous fluids staged a demonstration demanding swift action against the guilty even as another woman admitted in Jodhpur’s MG Hospital succumbed to excessive bleeding on Tuesday.

While the district administration has agreed to four demands of the demonstrators, activists have asked why medical negligence has not been made part of any inquiry.

Meanwhile, another woman, Geeta, died on Monday in MG Hospital, Jodhpur district collector Siddharth Mahajan said on Tuesday. “Another woman admitted in Umaid Hospital for hysterectomy died and the family has made a representation to the government. We have referred the case to the divisional commissioner who is probing the deaths,” Mahajan said.

Mahajan said he met women’s groups on Tuesday and accepted many demands. Kavita Srivastava, general secretary, PUCL, said the collector had agreed to make patient records and documents available to the victims’ families.
