Former minister gets jail for using proxy in exam

He was Minister for School and Higher Education of Puducherry when P M L Kalyanasundaram was accused of using a proxy to write his Class X examination in science in September 2011.
On Thursday, a court in Vilupuram, Tamil Nadu, sentenced him to two years in jail along with two education officials P Adavan and M Rajinikanth.
Kalyanasundaram was removed from the cabinet following the charges. Though he had applied to write the social science paper too, he did not sit for the exam citing a meeting convened by the Lt Governor on that day.
The malpractice of the former minister, a legislator of AINRC floated by rebel Congress leader N Rangasamy, was brought to light when then Tamil Nadu Education Minister C Ve Shanmugam was informed during a visit to Puducherry that he was using a proxy to write the exam. The school education system in Puducherry and Karaikkal is under Tamil Nadu School Education Department.
