The pope should give evidence that the God asked him to retire. It would have been more honest on his part if he had not involved God in his decision to retire on health grounds. If the topmost religious leader takes recourse to such phony reasons, he would only be doing disservice to his followers by presuming them to be superstitious, irrational and blind followers.Today retirement is justified in the name of God's calling tomorrow any act would be sought to be justified on the same ground. A wrong precedent has been set.
