New Delhi, April 3:: Mergers and Acquisitions focus on emerging markets have reached a massive 199.8 billion dollar so far in 2008, even as India-centric deals dropped 41 per cent compared to same period in 2007.
M&As targeted towards emerging market region increased 20 per cent to reach a whopping 199.8 billion dollar so far in 2008 through 3,159 deals. While, in the corresponding period in 2007 the deal volume had stood at 166.6 billion dollar by way of 2,474 deals, leading global financial information provider Dealogic said in its latest report.
China was the leading acquirer nation within the emerging markets so far in 2008 at 28.7 billion dollar, while Russian Federation followed suit and its M&A volume reached 23 billion dollar.
Emerging market mergers and acquisitions targeted towards the developed nations also witnessed tremendous volume so far in 2008 at 61.5 billion dollar, a jump of 150 per cent from 2007, and an increase of ten fold from 5.7 billion dollar since 2000, Dealogic added.
