EC notifies ban on exit polls
GANDHINAGAR: The Election Commission of India, through a new notification, has banned any kind of exit polls or prediction of results ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat. The order will come into affect at 8 am on November 4, when single-phase polling starts in Himachal, and will be in effect till 5.30 pm on December 17, when two-phase polling ends Gujarat.
Ban on ferrying voters to poll booths
Vadodara: The Vadodara police commissioner has banned the use of vehicles to ferry voters to and from polling stations during the Assembly election. Political parties, candidates or their agents and supporters would be booked if they are caught ferrying voters in this manner would be booked by police, a government release said. Also, no vehicles would be allowed in the 200-metre radius of a polling booth, except in exceptional cases, the release added.
