Who would have thought that 'Ek Villain' in its second weekend will actually score higher than the new releases in box office collections? The last weekend proved just that, as Shraddha Kapoor-Sidharth Malhotra starrer 'Ek Villain' continued to hold fort, helping the film smoothly cross the Rs 90 crore mark before entering the Rs 100 crore club this Thursday.
The overall box office collections of the film now stands at Rs 101.32 crore nett.
At PVR chain of cinemas, the second weekend occupancy of the film was at par with Bobby Jasoos. "Ek Villain continues to dominate in a fantastic way, making it Ekta Kapoor and Mohit Suriís highest earner so far, as the gross figures have already crossed 'The Dirty Picture' and 'Aashiqui 2ís collections,Ē said trade expert Vinod Mirani.
'Ek Villain' had registered the second highest first week box office collections of 2014 with Rs 77.20 crore, beating other big films like Holiday, Gunday and even 2 States that collected Rs. 68.65 crore, Rs. 63.08 crore and Rs. 60.73 crore respectively. It is only preceded by Salman Khan starrer 'Jai Ho' that collected Rs. 88.78 crore.
Trade expert Taran Adarsh tweeted, "It's a hat-trick for Riteish Deshmukh in Rs 100 cr Club: #Housefull2 in 2012, #GrandMasti in 2013 and now, #EkVillain in 2014.

The 'Reign' of the villains began with a massive opening box office collections of Rs 16.72 crore, making it the second highest opener of 2014.
The tremendous hype that the film had generated prior to its release resulted in an overwhelming start everywhere.
ďAfter the strong opening weekend,Ek Villain is enjoying a good run as the film has been appreciated for itís story and music,Ē mentioned Mirani.
Despite '15' rating by Censors, 'Ek Villain' made a bigger start than most biggies abroad. In key international markets like the United States, Canada and Australia the film performed decently, earning Rs 4.81 crore gross.
