Chandra Lecture-2012 on December 11
As part of the Chandra Lecture-2012, Dr Sandra Faber, a renowned Astrophysics Astronomer, will deliver a talk on Modern Genesis and the Limits of Cosmic Knowledge on December 11 at Chandrasekhar Auditorium, Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA). Started in celebration of the birth centenary of Prof. Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, IUCAA hosts the lecture every year. The lecture will distill a century of cosmic discoveries to synthesise the modern story of Genesis. Faber’s research focuses on the formation and evolution of galaxies and the evolution of large-scale structure in the universe, using 10-meter Keck telescopes and the Hubble Space Telescope (HST). Faber has received numerous awards, including the prestigious Henry Norris Russel Lectureship (2011) & the Bruce Gold Medal (2012).
