Eco-friendly vehicles to be designed by students
The national event, in its third edition this year, will witness participation of teams from 125 leading technical institutes from all over the country. A panel of judges shortlisted 62 teams, which will participate in the three-day event. There are also three girls-only teams.
Some of the qualifying institutes include, BITS Pilani, IIT Kanpur, IIT Patna, IIT Roorkee, IT-BHU, Anna University, Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology, Madras Institute Of Technology, R V College Of Engineering, SRM University and University of Petroleum and Energy Studies.
The objective of the event is to provide an opportunity to students to explore environment friendly and economical solutions for day-to-day mobility needs of people. The event tasks the undergraduate engineering students to conceive, design and fabricate a prototype of a three-wheel configuration vehicle powered by human or electric hybrid power and capable of seating two people.
The students have to function as a team to take part in various events that judge the design, cost, marketing potential, technical parameters, safety, dynamic characteristics and durability of the vehicle. The team that achieves the highest cumulative ranking in all the events will be declared the winner.
Participation in the event is a two-stage process comprising of simulation round, where teams are required to simulate the prototype, followed by the main event where the qualifying teams
