Great Wall of mistrust

At the second India-China Strategic Economic Dialogue that began in Delhi on Monday, the Chinese business delegation is depending on the services of its own interpretors while the Indian external affairs ministry has deployed another team of interpretors to make sure that its Chinese counterparts are not playing fast and loose with the facts. As the two translating teams keep a close watch on each other, one senses all the ingredients of a Hollywood espionage hit.

Hard landing

Many are hoping that the LARR Bill, 2011, will be brought in Parliament in the ongoing Winter Session. But the extent to which the government is pushing this has been put in doubt by a PIB release tracing the forces behind the Bill—UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi—to “sources”. Why isn’t the PIB getting such information straight from the horse’s mouth?
