Some of these buses operate till 4.50 am. The bus from Nangloi to New Delhi railway station is one such example,’’ a DTC spokesperson said.
The CCTV camera specifications were supposed to to be worked out by Delhi Police, but never moved beyond the pilot project stage, officials said. DTC officials claim what has worked in their favour is the fact that their conductors and drivers are permanent employees.
“We also carry out gender sensitisation training for our staff. In order to improve security measures, we are soon going to activate the panic buttons on our 3,000-odd buses. In case of any untoward incident, our central control room can be alerted immediately,’’ the spokesperson said.
