While healthcare as an industry is being termed as a sunrise sector, public health is still a neglected area in both urban and rural areas. The allopathic doctor-population ratio at present stands at 1:1,722, according to the Medical Council of India.

Taking into consideration other streams of Indian medicine systems as well as the practice of homeopathy in India, the doctor-population ratio comes to 128 doctors per lakh of population, according to minister of state for health and family welfare Panabaka Lakshmi.

Nationalize The Medical Education ...

NIMA PATHARDI | 02-Apr-2010Reply | Forward
We hereby request to Hon,President of India, Hon,Prime minister of India, Hon, Health Minister of India & All the Hon, MP's from Rajyasabha & Loksabha to seriously think on "Nationalization of Medical Education"... 1)Medical Education should be on the top of priority list of Govt of India,it is as important as Defense. No privatization should be allowed in Medical Education.. Privatization of medical education started in 1953, & now every big politician owns a Medical College . Those who cant own medical college, own BAMS or BHMS colleges.. management quota seats are literally sold Medical Education is now a market, where those who have lot of money can get admissions Truly worthy students are deprived from getting medical education, in this Bazar. & they are compelled to take admission to courses like BAMS/BHMS & not out of love for Ayurveda & Homeopathy.. They are doing good job as General Practitioners Those who invest money for education naturally tries to put out the invested money with interest, they are going to accept freebies & gifts fromthe Pharma companies, no matter MCI's Ketan Desai bans it. True Medical professional needs Empathy, Emotions & Ethics in his heart. Privatization of Medical Education kept all these words into dictionary 2)Upgrade all the existing BAMS/BHMS/BUMS/BSMS colleges to MBBS & provide them with necessary infrastructure. 3)Existing BAMS/BHMS/BUMS/BSMS practitioners should be upgraded to MBBS by offering them refreshing course in medicine & pharmacology through CME centers at Taluka/Tehsil level. The CME centers at Taluka/Tehsil level should be provided with recent advances in technology like video conferencing. 4) Government's job is to provide/ensure proper health care to it's citizens & not to promote the different pathies, hence AYUSH dept. & CCIM &CCH should be scrapped. & Uniform scientific medical syllabus should be applied in the Nation, Ayurveda, unani & siddha would be offered as optional subjects,as they have the Indian origin & should be considered as potential resource for research in main stream medicine. Thanx with Regards NIMA PATHARDI Let's Unite To Provide Better Health Services For Our People..!
