Bhushan Kumar’s wife, Divya Khosla Kumar, has realised her dream of directing an international singer. The one-time actor who has directed many music videos including that of Pankaj Udhas will now be directing international singer Jermaine Jackson, brother of the late pop icon Michael Jackson. Divya has conceptualised a four- minute video, Let’s go to Mumbai city, which will pay a tribute to Mumbai city. “I thought of Jermaine, as Michael Jackson had a lot of fans in Mumbai and he himself was very attached to the city and keen to visit it again. So even though the album is a tribute to Mumbai, the music has the typical MJ flavour.”
Jermaine, who has been invited by record label T-Series , arrived in Mumbai on Friday and will be in Mumbai for a week to work on the album.
“He’ll start dubbing for the song from October 6. I chose Adnan Sami to render the music because he too came to Mumbai with a dream and realised it too. Mumbai will be showcased in the album as the dream city. Mumbai is where so many dreams come true and we’ll show both Adnan and Jermaine going to all the landmark locations in the city like the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel and the Gateway of India, and interacting with people, especially little slum kids who are known to emulate Jackson’s steps,” she elaborated.
Sami and Jackson will lend their voices to the album, which will be aired on Diwali day.
The singer, who is Michael and Janet Jackson’s elder brother, has been a musician in his own right for many years. He was the frontman of the Jackson Brothers, which was later known as the Jackson Five, before younger brother Michael emerged as the star and delivered hits such as I want you back and I’ll be there. Jermaine was also in the news for lending moral support to actor Shilpa Shetty on Celebrity Big Brother UK in 2007 and more recently, as one of the judges on the BBC talent show, Move Like Michael Jackson.
