A private power distribution company in the capital today launched a new meter testing laboratory to exclusively cater to meters booked by the enforcement team in tampering or power theft cases.
The new facility launched by Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited is located in Rohini in outer Delhi will serve as a platform to those consumers whose meters have been booked by the enforcement team for alleged tampering or power theft.
Power Minister Haroon Yusuf inaugurated the facility which has been established in association with Electrical and Development Association (ERDA) which was jointly established by electricity utilities, Government of India and Government of Gujarat.
Yusuf said it will go a long way in building consumer confidence about the fair and transparent practices adopted by TPDDL.
He also inaugurated a new 25MVA power transformer in sector 3, Rohini.
Key features of the lab are that the meter would be unsealed in front of the consumer and it would be tested in front of the consumer.
"This initiative is aimed to dispel any misconstrued notions that any consumer may have regarding credibility of testing of meters which are booked in power theft cases," said Praveer Sinha, CEO & ED, TPDDL.
