Dhule abduction case: IO shifted, suspects still at large
Ahmednagar additional superintendent of police Jyotipriya Singh, who was heading the investigation, told The Indian Express that she has been transferred on promotion. “I am not investigating the case now,” she said. She was reportedly transferred to Kolhapur as her tenure at Ahmednagar was completed. Officials said this would further delay the case.
District superintendent (SP) of police R D Shinde said, “We would appoint a new investigation officer. There is progress in investigation.”
Meanwhile, the Ahmednagar police had gone to Shirpur on Friday along with the victim, her fiance and his cousin for investigation. The brothel where the girl was allegedly dumped and beaten up was found locked. Police teams then broke the locks and conducted searches.
The cops reportedly recovered the stick with which the brothel keeper identified as Pooja beat the girl. Cops also recovered material like make up items and condoms.
Ahmednagar police had identified the four suspects as Prakash Karankal, Gopal Yadav, the owner of the place where the brothel operated, Altaf Abdul Khatik and Pooja Amit Wankhede, allegedly the brothel keeper. Police recovered identity documents of Pooja, Gopal and Altaf from the brothel.
