Delhi-based firm selected as consultant for development of Agra Inner Ring Road
The role of the consultant will be to conduct the project study, technical feasibility study, financial viability study, and entire bid process management.
Three firms had submitted their bids. These included Casta Engineers Private Limited, MC Consulting Engineering Private Limited, and Holtec Consulting Private Limited. Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner (IIDC) A K Gupta stated that Casta Engineers Pvt Ltd of New Delhi quoted the lowest financial bid.
The scope of work will comprise multiple tasks, starting from exploring the alignment, assessment of requirement of bridges, railway over-bridges, feasibility model, getting necessary clearances from the Union Environment Ministry as well as management of the bidding process for the selection of a developer.
This road is aimed at easing the traffic within the Agra city which has seen incremental rise from incoming vehicles after the Yamuna Expressway became functional. It is also proposed to be linked to upcoming Agra-Lucknow green-field expressway, aiding tourist access to Taj Mahal in particular and regional tourism in general. Agra Development Authority (ADA) has been nominated as the nodal agency for implementation of this project.
The road will be six-lane (extendable to eight), starting near Kuberpur on Kanpur Road (NH-2) joining the Yamuna Expressway, and ending at Rohta on the Gwalior road (NH-3).
