Delhi cops get Fasih custody for 10 days
Arrested in May in Saudi Arabia where he worked as a project manager at Eram Engineering, Fasih has been accused of having conspired with the Bhatkal brothers and other members of the Indian Mujahideen in the 2010 Jama Masjid firing and blast case in Delhi and the Chinnaswamy stadium blast in Bangalore the same year.
Deported from Saudi Arabia on the request of the Indian government, Fasih, 28, was taken into custody by the Special Cell of the Delhi Police after he arrived at the IGI airport by a commercial flight from Riyadh on Monday.
Fasih’s brother Sabih and his counsel Syed Irfan Alam had a 20-minute meeting with him on Tuesday.
They said that they have asked him to fully cooperate with the investigation to prove his innocence.
“I have full faith in our country’s judicial system. My brother has done nothing wrong,” said Sabih.
Fasih’s eight months pregnant wife and his mother reached Delhi on Tuesday and are likely to be allowed to meet him soon.
Nikhat Parveen, Fasih’s wife, had filed a habeas corpus petition in the Supreme Court after her husband was arrested from their Saudi home in May.
