Delhi is the best Indian city to live in, while steel city Jamshedpur ranks lowest in the Liveability Index 2010 prepared jointly by CII and Institute for Competitiveness.

Country's financial capital Mumbai comes second in the list of 37 cities mapped in the list, prepared on parameters like living standard, socio-cultural environment, education, medical standards and recreational possibilities among others.

Delhi comes on top in education, safety and economic environment; second in housing options, socio-cultural political environment; but medical standards remains the Achilles heel where the national capital finds 17th place.

"In overall quality of life, Delhi outscores on Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Pune and Gurgaon, which take up respective ranks second to ninth," the report said, adding that Faridabad, Ludhiana, Lucknow, Patna, Visakhapatnam and Jamshedpur are the last six ranked cities on overall quality of life.

Nice to see delhi at numero uno position, but it still needs to go a long way in becomming a world-standard city.government have done their part and have succeded in giving results too.Now its our turn too pay back to the city in our own ways.I personally feel it should be more clean and friendly and in this department we can not expect government"s role, this change depends upon us and us alone and as father of our nation said,"be the change, you wish to see".

I agree to it completely,Delhi has been tainted by a lot of negative publicity but is actually one of the best cities to live in,not just in terms of socio-economics factors but also the efforts taken by the govt.to provide good education and career opportunities.Delhi has a life of its own and one has to live in it to know it and love it.

Delhi is a good cosmopolitan city. The high threat to Delhi- are 'Delhi Quacks who are nothing but fake doctors. They are maintaing good 'centre areas' to cheat the innocent public openly.Daily our honourable members like Govt officials ,several politicians, and other dignitaries of Delhi move in front of their clinics, hospitals and nursing homes. But surprisingly no-body is touching them though they are cheating the abroad people in addition to Delhi people also.
