The power, that would thus be produced from the increased capacity can be sold by the company in the open market. This would mean that while Uttar Pradesh would get power at cheap rates, the investing company also does not make any loss in making that available to the state government.

However, the flip side for going in for fresh bidding is that the process will take a long time and the projects stand to get delayed, thereby making it difficult for the government to stick to its resolved of producing 10,000 mw of new power by the end of the 11th plan....
