DDA invites views on farmhouse policy
People will have to submit their suggestions within 90 days.
The policy will regularise built-up area beyond permissible limits by levying penalty charges. It allows for usage of farmhouses as banquet halls. Recreational centres like amusement parks, resorts and spas will be allowed on plots of 2 hectares and above, subject to certain conditions.
“The permitted farmhouses, which were allowed a Floor Area Ratio (FAR) of 1 per cent, will also be allowed to make use of the revised FAR,” a DDA source said.
The policy, which covers nearly 2,400 farmhouses in areas such as Mehrauli, Neb Sarai and Chhatarpur allows for new ‘country homes’ to come up on minimum plot areas of one acre.
“We have issued a notification inviting suggestions and objections from people. After 90 days, the proposal will go to the Board of Enquiry. After this, it will be sent to the Urban Development Ministry, which will issue the final notification,” a DDA official said.
Sources said the final notification is expected in four to six months.
The policy, which has been in limbo for years, was approved by the DDA in August. To earn the legal tag, farmhouse owners will have to pay hefty penalties as compounding charges.
