Everyone has the RIGHT to freedom of speech but it is NOT RIGHT to abuse freedom of speech by being disrespectful, abusive or hurting sentiments of people. So the real issue is abusing freedom of speech. Shaheen said "respect is earned not forced"; here she is invalidating the tears, respect and sadness of lakhs of people seen on the streets of Mumbai & funeral. She also said people went bonkers, meaning people were crazy. So according to her, all the masses in Mumbai gathered to pay respect and grieving were crazy. She said people were forced to shut down. Did she do research and ask each shop owner in Mumbai were you forced to close your shop? Was there any basis for making remarks like people are crazy, they were forced to shut down etc. If someone passed the comment on your dead father or grandfather, that thousands like him die everyday, people grieving are crazy, would you like this comment? One cannot misuse one's right to speak to hurt.
