British Prime Minister David Cameron was Tuesday facing claims of cronyism after it emerged that his hairdresser was among those named in Queen Elizabeth’s New Year’s Honours List for 2014.

Celebrity stylist Lino Carbosiero was appointed an MBE (Member of the British Empire) for “services to hairdressing” in the latest list announced on New Year’s Eve, based on recommendations from an Honours Committee.

Carbosiero dismissed claims of bias, saying it was a recognition of his campaign to regulate the industry. The British media, however, was rife with speculation as the ‘Daily Mirror’ claimed he was rewarded for covering up Cameron’s allegedly thinning hair by switching his side parting from left to right a few years ago.

Carbosiero brushed off the idea that he had intentionally changed the Prime Minister’s hairstyle, admitting that switching his side-parting was more likely down to him forgetting Cameron’s original style.
