Cummins that endeavours to inculcate a sense of responsibility towards the environment amongst school students.

The campaign, commemorating 50 years in India, so far has covered 25 schools and approximately 9,000 students across Pune and is also on in Phaltan, Nagpur, Ranjangaon, Jamshedpur, Indore, Chandigarh, Gurgaon, Chennai, Ranchi, Raipur, Sambalpur, Vadodara, Kolkata, Bangalore and Delhi.

The programme aims to address 75,000 school children and intends to educate students on the importance as well as ways of protecting the environment. The drive will continue till December 31.

S Ravichandran, head, corporate responsibility, Cummins Group in India said, “Children are the future citizens of the country. It is important to engage with them while they are in their formative years, to help them inculcate the right practices.”

Students of classes V, VI and VII participated in the programme. Presentations were shown followed by a question and answer round wherein the students who answered correctly won prizes. Pradeep Dhumal, president, PMC school board said, “It is encouraging to see how Cummins is creating awareness among the youth. We are pleased to provide all the necessary support to them”. The event is being managed by the volunteers from the company.
