CSF backs Don Bosco School vice-principal, wants case quashed
In a letter to the Chief Minister and Home Minister, the CSF has urged the case against Falco be quashed. “Egidius Falcao has been falsely implicated by police without any proper investigation,” Joseph Dias, general secretary of CSF, wrote in the letter.
“Two Catholic priests, Fr Egidius Falcao and Fr Anton Antao, were both taken from the premises of the Sacred Heart Church in Yerawada on January 21 without any warrant to the police station. They were illegally confined for hours and were not even allowed to use their cellphones to get legal assistance. The police told them that they filed case against them solely on the basis of the victims’ complaint and some friends who testified. However, one of her friends clearly denied such allegations,” he said.
Manoj Patil, deputy commissioner of police (Zone IV), said, “Our probe is on. I cannot respond to statements made by other people on the issue.”
