Crime against women: Shinde asks all parties to suggest changes to law

“I have written letters to all the parties, including my party, to suggest measures and amendments. They have been asked to send their suggestions to the Justice J S Verma Committee,” said Shinde on Monday. He said he would consider the demand for an all-party meeting after the Verma Committee submits its report.

Finance Minister P Chidambaram said the demand for a special session of Parliament would also be considered after the Verma Committee’s report. “We have appointed the committee to recommend to the government what changes should be made in the law. Therefore, a special session makes sense only when the report is received by the government,” he said.
