Cops hunting for Sushil Kumar Shinde son-in-law car thieves seek drum call records

To arrest the two car thieves who slipped away during a chase that resulted in the recovery of a Mitsubishi Pajero belonging to Union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde’s son-in-law Raj Shroff, police have sought “drum call records” of mobile phones in Lower Parel, Bandra and parts of Dadar where the stolen SUV was seen.
Drum call records are calls made from all phones active in a specific radius during specific time.
“We want to match phone numbers used in Parel and Bandra,” said inspector Kishore Shinde of NM Joshi Marg police station.
The Pajero was stolen on the night of February 14 from outside the residence of Shroff’s driver near Bawla Compound, Curry Road, and recovered on February 17 morning from the slums at Bandra Reclamation.
Police are also checking CCTV recordings at major junctions during the three days.
The car was spotted being driven towards Dadar by Shinde’s daughter, who alerted cops.
