The Haryana government has made computer education mandatory in all government colleges across the state. Under the compulsory computer education scheme, the government has set up two computer labs with 25 computers each in government colleges at Nagina and Tauru in Mewat district at a cost of over Rs 67.6 lakh. “The state government had made computer literacy compulsory in all its colleges. Compulsory computer programme has been implemented in two of its three government colleges,” said Geeta Bhukkal, Haryana’s Education Minister.

Man arrested for cheating in Rohtak

Chandigarh: The Haryana Police on Monday arrested a man from Sector 2, Rohtak, for allegedly duping a person by taking money from him in lieu of getting him appointed as a train ticket examiner in the railway department. During interrogation, Raj Kumar, a resident of Birdhana, Jhajjar, admitted that he had taken money from a person belonging to Bohr village, Rohtak. The accused was remanded in police custody till February 7.

Sports persons’ diet money enhanced

Chandigarh: The Haryana government has enhanced the rate of diet money admissible to participants of state-level sports competitions and training camps and local participants of training camps to Rs 150 per day. “Earlier, the state-level participants used to get Rs 100 per day, and local participants got Rs 30 per day as diet money,” a state government spokesperson said.
