City marks World AIDS Awareness Day with lectures, rally

The NSS unit of Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector 36, Chandigarh, on Saturday celebrated World AIDS Awareness Day. On this occasion, Dr Krishna Murari Tripathi, sociologist cum innovative counsellor from Delhi spread awareness regarding the dreadful disease. The Red Ribbon Club of the college encouraged the students to take an oath to spread knowledge regarding preventive measures and reducing stigma and overcoming discrimination of people living with AIDS.

As part of its CSR programme, Fortis Hospital, Mohali conducted a session to create awareness about AIDS for around 75 mechanics at the Motor Market, Sector 48, Chandigarh.

The Family Planning Association of India, Panchkula in association with the State AIDS Control Society, Chandigarh organised a rickshaw rally with the theme “Getting to Zero”. 65 participants including FPAI staff, MSM, people living with AIDS and rickshaw pullers participated in the rally.
