MCM DAV College for Women, Sector 36
MCM DAV College for Women organized ‘Betiyon ki Lohri’, a Lohri celebration dedicated to women’s empowerment with the aim of giving an impetus to the sense of dignity among students.
As the Lohri fire was ignited, prayers of the evil against women burning in the fire soared high. The girls of MCM took an oath to strengthen themselves against all evil and to prepare and arm themselves with necessary courage and perseverance to tackle testing situations in their lives.
Younger girls of the age group of 6-10 were also invited at the festivity with the objective of inculcating a spirit of self-awareness and self-respect in them. The college also pledged to intensify its efforts towards empowering the women by introducing an inclusive and empowering system of education.
College principal Dr Puneet Bedi, said that Lohri celebrations in MCM provided an opportunity to make the girls aware of their rights and powers.
Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector 36
The NSS unit of Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector 36 celebrated National Youth Day on the 150th birthday of Swami Vivekanada and combined it with celebrations of Lohri.
It was felt in the unit that the philosophy of Swami Vivekanand and the ideals for which he lived and worked could be a great source of inspiration for the Indian youth.
Nirmal Singh Dhillon, chairman of Dev Samaj College of Women paid tribute by offering flowers in Swami’s memory.
He shared Vivekanand’s ideology and the work he did for the nation by sharing his life stories. NSS volunteers Drishty and Tarannum delivered a thought-provoking speech on the occasion, highlighting his works, contributions, philosophies and great ideas.
Along with this, the college celebrated Lohri with the lighting of a bonfire within its premises. Teachers and students offered peanuts and corn to the fire to mark the occasion.
Banyan Tree School
Parents were the special invitees at the Lohri celebrations at the Banyan Tree School on Saturday. A small cultural programme was presented by the teachers. Parents enthusiastically participated in various games like musical chairs, a one-minute
