PUNE: Shah Rukh Khan is scheduled to visit Pune to meet employees of Bajaj Auto Ltd on Friday. He will be addressing media persons during the afternoon at a private hospital. Bajaj Auto Ltd managing director Rajiv Bajaj will also be present, said the release.
Lawyers to boycott court over pending demands
PUNE: To protest several pending demands including one for a High Court bench in Pune, members of Pune Bar Association have decided to not participate in court proceedings on August 13 and 14. The decision was taken in the general body meeting, conducted after several years. The courts, however, will remain open on these two days. Bar association members said the proposal to establish a bench in Pune was passed in the legislative houses, but no action had yet been taken.
Dept of Post releases special rakhi envelopes
PUNE: The Department of Post has released special rakhi envelopes to mark the festival of Raksha Bandhan on August 20. Priced at Rs 7, the size of each envelope is 11cm by 22 cm and is available in different colours and designs. “The special features of the envelopes is that they are tear resistant, light and attractive. The flaps are with ‘peel and seal’ mechanism will protect rakhis from damage,” an official release said.
City umpire selected for Youth Asian Games
Vinay Joshi, a senior national umpire from Pune, has been selected as a technical official for the second Asian Youth Games. The meet will be held in Nanjing, China from the 16th of August till August 21. Joshi has formerly officiated at four international tournaments in China and Japan respectively. Incidentally, Joshi is the second official from Pune District Metropolitan Badminton Association (PDMBA) to be selected for an international meet. Earlier, the secretary of PDMBA and Badminton World Federation (BWF), a certified umpire, Uday Sane, had been selected as a technical official for the BWF World Championships which concluded in Guangzhou last week.
