Founder’s Week celebrations at Vivek High School conclude

CHANDIGARH: With a concert presented by a band of ex-students of the school, the 18th Founder’s Week celebrations concluded on Thursday. ‘Hence Proved’, the school band performed on the theme of ‘Back to Life’ in aid of the Sahayta Cancer Sahyog. Maintaining the ethos of the concert by prioritising donations and rehabilitation support to Sahayta Cancer Sahyog, the celebrations brought in musicians and other artistes together to utilise their abilities to target pressing social issues. The concert also saw performances by ‘Two’s a Crowd’ from Delhi and featured bands like ‘I Quit’ and ‘Drone Culture Collective’.

PGI director honours 13 on their retirement

CHANDIGARH: Professor Vinay Sakhuja, Acting Director of PGIMER honoured Dr C M Pathak, Professor and Head of Department of Biophysics along with 12 others on their superannuation on Thursday by presenting mementoes to them.

Arvind Walia, Assistant Public Relations Officer; Har Krishan Singh, Assistant Stores Officer; Dilbagh Singh, Assistant, Accounts Branch; Hari Singh, Junior Reception Officer; Mahavir, Technician Grade I; Jatinder Pal Singh, Technician Grade I; Surinder Kumar, Technician Grade I; Damodar Ram, Head Bearer Cook; Badam Singh, Technician Grade II; Karam Singh, Mali Grade II; Narata Singh, Technician Grade III and Mahi Pal (Voluntary Retirement), Sanitary Attendant retired from PGI after working at PGI for 20-42 years. Chetan P S Rao, DDA and Sushil Thakur, Financial Adviser handed over beneficiary cheques comprising GPF, gratuity and group insurance to the awardees.

Quality Month celebrations held

CHANDIGARH: Every year October is celebrated as ‘Quality Month’ in all units under HQ MC to promote quality awareness in aviation maintenance and production. The celebrations this year were conducted at 3 Base Repair Depot (3 BRD), Air Force, Chandigarh, an establishment of the Indian air Force (IAF) involving overhauling of helicopters, aero-engines and their aggregates. Activities like slogan writing, poster making ,exhibition and lectures on quality were held during the month. Station Commander Group Captain Sanjeeva Sinha awarded the winners in a ceremony held at Depot Auditorium on Thursday.

Freshers’ meet at SSB UICET

CHANDIGARH: Dr S S Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology (SSB UICET), PU, organised the annual Freshers meet ‘Neoterica’ at Law Auditorium on Thursday. The occasion was graced by Executive Director, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Ashwani Sharma, an alumnus of the department, where freshers and 2nd-year students presented cultural performances.
