According to the Public Works Department, a consultant is being hired to carry out a feasibility study for also widening the road from Masoodpur to NH-8.
“The work of widening the 3.5-km stretch from Andheria More to Masoodpur has already started and is likely to be completed by June 2013. The estimated cost of this work is Rs 58.21 crore. This stretch of the road comprises four lanes at present and will be widened to eight lanes,” a PWD official said.
Strengthening of the existing road, improvement of footpath and drains, providing modern retro-reflective road signages and upgradation of street lighting will also be taken up. “This apart, a consultant is being hired to carry out a feasibility study for the stretch from Masoodpur to NH-8 as there is a lot of encroachment around Masoodpur,’’ the official said.
The widening of the Mehrauli-Mahipalpur Road will be taken up in three phases. The third phase of this project will involve creating a Mahipalpur bypass. “This bypass from Ryan International School to NH-8 near Shiv Murti will connect with the Dwarka Road,” the official said. A feasibility study for this phase will also be carried out.
A total of 31 projects worth Rs 584 crore, the majority of which are related to improving the road infrastructure, were cleared by the expenditure finance committee (EFC)
