With 13 states performing their respective dance forms and 90 participants competing in various culinary events, the three-day CII International Tourism fest concluded at Parade Ground on Saturday.
The International Chef meet, organised as part of the fest, had team events with 14 categories and was judged by the World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS). With over 35 world renowned chefs, the fest had the largest gathering of food and beverage industry professionals.
While addressing the valedictory function, Home Secretary-cum-Tourism Secretary, Chandigarh Administration, Anil Kumar said, “I invite all domestic and international participants to the Tourism Fest next year on same dates from December 5-7. I also thank CII for choosing Chandigarh as the location to organise this mega event. Chandigarh Administration is fully committed to support tourism and hospitality industry and remove bottlenecks, if any”.
He also released a book by Chef Manjit Gill, Chief Executive Corporate Chef of ITC Ltd, The Secrets of Indian Gastronomy, showcasing India’s age old philosophy and secrets behind various recipes.
The fest witnessed participation from Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Jammu & Kashmir, Tamil Nadu & Delhi in addition to overseas participation from China, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia (Silver Sponsor), Turkey and Ethiopia.
