Chilli, jeera decline on subdued demand

Red chilli and jeera prices drifted by Rs 100 per quintal here today on subdued demand from retailers and stockists amid adequate stocks. Red chilli prices fell by Rs 100 to Rs 6,400-11,900 per quintal.

Jeera common and jeera best quality also declined by Rs 100 each to conclude at Rs 14,600-14,800 and Rs 17,500-18,000 per quintal.

Marketmen said subdued demand from retailers and stockists amid adequate stocks, mainly pulled down chilli and jeera prices in the wholesale kirana market here.

The following are today's quotations: Ajwain 10,000-15,000, black pepper (per kg) 425-560, betelnut (kg) 160-195, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 830-930, and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 950-1,050.

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 750-880, cardamom (colour robin) 750-900, cardamom bold 750-850, cardamom extra (bold) 950-1,050 and cloves (kg) 630-710.
