Madrid was second to Chelsea F.C. in the team vote after beating Osasuna 4-0 and also winning the first leg of the Champions League semifinals against Bayern Munich 1-0. Madrid received three more points than Spanish league leader Atletico Madrid, which followed its 0-0 draw against Chelsea F.C. in the Champions League with a 1-0 win at Valencia.
Miralem Pjanic was second to Ronaldo in the player poll after his impressive solo goal gave Roma a 1-0 win over AC Milan.
